Problem solving

During the construction of the card stacking model a very serious problem appeard, I found it very difficult to make card stack without using any tape or glue. Because I am not a professional card stacker, so I decided to tape these cards instead of stacking it.

Development3

In the models I make I use the concept of golden ratio. Both maths and art are related to golden ratio, this concept can be defined as the formulas below
(A+b)/a=a/b=φ or φ= (1+√5)/2≈1.618033987…
The lenth for the model is 45cm and highth is 28. By using the concept of golden ratio the two numbers are divide into two parts, and I use the formula a/b=φ to make sure φ≈1.618 (golden ratio). The result of the calculation is 1.607 which is very close to the golden ratio.

Development2

In the last few days I have generated a image verision of my creative work. Now I will move onto the next step of my creative process, which is making the actual model with two different methods. For the first model I decided to make a model of the "Greek Temple" by using the concept of golden ratio.

Bryan Berg (born March 21, 1974) a professional "card stacker"

I was inspired from his card stacking techniques and critical brainstorming skills. Before he uses freestanding playing cards to make a model of living building structures, he uses his imagination to predict the finishing look of the model.

Development

Finally, all the researches are finished, I will produce a creative work base on my creative approach. In my creative process first I will be using the previous knowledge in Processing software and generate picture version of my creative work.

More research

After I decided on using the golden ratio for my creative art work I start to do more research on the golden ratio and make sure I am definitely clear about this concept.

Idea development

After studying from the literature review, I found there are various of connections in math and art. Most significantly concept is the two different topics can be use to a similar idea. Many mathematical ideas has participated in the study field of art, such as the circumference ratio and golden ratio. Number of world famous art pieces, like The Vitruvian Man” and “Mona Lisa” , were drew based on the golden ratio concept. I don’t really know the importance of math in a drawing, since I am not good at drawing. However I am comfortable at making models, so I decided to apply the golden ratio to my creative art work.
